Our Founder

Peter Martin, founder of QB1 Max, brings a unique blend of elite athletic experience and executive leadership to quarterback development. QB1 Max is dedicated to equipping athletes with the tools they need to excel at the quarterback position—focusing on fundamentals, leadership, QB IQ, and injury prevention. As an all-state quarterback at Rapid City Stevens High School, Martin earned prestigious honors including Gatorade Football Player of the Year for South Dakota and High School All-American recognition. He continued his career at the University of South Dakota, where he was a two-year starter and team captain.

After college, Coach Martin translated his quarterback mindset into a successful 25-year career in business, holding senior leadership roles including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Executive Vice President at a Fortune 10 company. He holds an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota and is a CPA (inactive).

Through QB1 Max, Coach Martin is committed to helping quarterbacks reach their full potential—not just as players, but as leaders in life.

Our Advisors

QB1 Max is constantly searching for new and innovative ways to impact the experience and overall performance of our athletes. We have built a strong team of advisors that provides ongoing feedback to continually improve our programs and provide college and pro level drills and instruction.

Courtney Tanaka

Specializing in sports and orthopedic injuries Courtney has been practicing physical therapy since 2012. As the Founder of ReNew Me Physical Therapy and Wellness, she is committed to helping athletes and individuals recover, prevent injuries, and optimize performance through personalized rehabilitation and wellness programs. Courtney developed and conducts the injury prevention screening assessments for QB1 Max. 

Matt Brei

A former Luther College quarterback, assistant coach at Concordia-St. Paul and Wisconsin-River Falls, and National Football League player agent, Matt is well-versed in all things football. His experience as a player, coach and NFL agent brings a unique perspective to QB1 Max and blends on-field expertise with strategic insights from the highest level of football.  

Brent Salem

Brent has served as Offensive Coordinator, Quarterbacks Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator at the University of South Dakota and Olivet Nazarene University, with previous assistant coaching roles at Purdue (tight ends) and Northern Arizona (running backs). With extensive experience developing quarterbacks and offensive strategies, he provides unique insights and perspectives to QB1 Max. 

Steve Corso

Steve was a high school quarterback and then a wide receiver at Indiana University playing for head coach and now ESPN Gameday Analyst Lee Corso. He later transitioned into the business world and co-founded MedSynergies, a revenue cycle management company supporting physician groups across the country. He brings a unique combination of leadership skills from the field and entrepreneurial success to every interaction with QB1 Max.
